A Haertl'y 2022 Christmas
Letter
Greetings all! We wish you peace, love and beauty! As with many folks, the past year brought more time for socialization, travel, volunteer opportunities, and time with family and friends! We delighted in time shared with Mikaela’s family and always enjoy valued time with the grandkids! The year also brought personal and professional travels which among others included Vancouver, San Diego, various ski trips, and family trips to the North Shore, the Virgin Islands, and the Upper Peninsula with dad to see his brother Jim and my aunt Kathy. We also enjoyed family camp with dad, Mikaela, Bri, Caleb, Arlo and for the first time in 25 years Dan came! He loved it! In addition, for the 27th year I captained the Purple Pumpers on the MS 150. Thanks to all those who rode and donated, we have now raised over $175,000! We too had a number of fun bike rides. Dad and mom continue to live in Golden Valley and at nearly 90 dad still bikes, analyzes finances, dances and has an active social life!

Family outing to Big Bowl
Dan: What a year Dan had as he continues to defy age and coaches tennis for Maple Grove Girls, Centennial Boys, is a Tennis Pro at the University of Minnesota and teaches tennis classes there. He also continues in a number of other tennis capacities. He too was honored to not only win the Section Coach of the Year, he also was named the Minnesota Girls’ HS Tennis Coach of the Year and was honored at their Awards Ceremony. Outside leisure activities included Can An trips, time on our pontoon, guitar playing for the church praise band, reading, and a number of Sticks and Tones (his Children’s Band) gigs. Mikaela even had the chance to play with him this year as she shared her drum skills! Highlights of Dan’s year include the above stated accomplishments, playing music, and going to Family Camp for the first time. He looks forward to more years in the future!

Dan's Maple Grove team won sections and made it to state again this year!

Congrats coach of the year!!!

Our planned trip to Florida was cancelled due to the flight mayhem so we drove to Colorado in December / January- Much Fun!

Kristi: It’s hard to believe I’m in my 26th year as a professor at St. Kates! In the Spring I was blessed to take another sabbatical and worked on another shared book project and a number of other publications and presentation activities both nationally and internationally. For many years I taught the equivalent of 1.5+ full time equivalents (on a 9-month contract) and am delighted to have moved to a .75 contract (9 over 12) which is still considered full time but has offered even more time for friends, family, travel, running, biking, nature and other valued endeavors. I too completed my 3rd, 12-item bucket list and I’ve launched the 4th. I continue to delight in babysitting grandkids, time with friends and family, running, biking, kayaking, singing in the praise band and volunteering at our church Matthew 25 food program. Highlights include the cherished time with loved ones and savoring all the adventures and travels.
